Known as one of Canada's most versatile character actors Avery has been acting professionally for almost 30 years. He started his career at the Shaw Festival in "Lady Audley's Secret" and from that show acted in every major venue across Canada and in Toronto itself.

Ave's Music
"Man of La Mancha" can be heard on a new CD recorded in 2001 at Abbey Road Studios with Kim Criswell and Ron Raines.
Avery also has a recording of "The Pajama Game" on the EMI label. He will be recording a CD of "Music Man" later this year.
No stranger to operetta he has starred in "The Merry Widow" at the Canadian Opera and the National Arts Centre, Koko in Brian Macdonald's "The Mikado" at the NAC, "The Barber of Seville" at the COC, and as Frosch the Jailer in "Die Fledermaus" at Florida Opera, Chataqua Opera, Hamilton Opera, COC, NYC Opera, and Saskatchewan Opera.
Along with Operetta and the Stage, Avery is now performing internationally on the Concert Stage. He has sung with the BBC Concert and Symphony Orchestras in "Man of La Mancha". "Forum" with the Covent Garden Festival, "Guys and Dolls" at the Royal Albert Hall, directed by Julia Mackenzie, and with the Vienna Symphony.
Avery has just finished a performance of "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" at the Red Hot Aids Gala held at the Millenium Stadium in front of 30,000 spectators in Cardiff Wales - which aired on Showtime in January 2002.
Future concerts include: Work with the London Philharmonic and the Cardiff Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro David Abell.
Avery also has an extensive Television career
- He can be heard weekly as Mr. Pugallski (the dog) in Nelvana's animated cartoon series "Pekola"
- As a semi regular in "Doc" opposite Billy Ray Cyrus.
